Openly blunt and stabbing, Battle Royale has been a movie that has been showered with praise and has been amidst controversies. A movie that depicts the events of a future closer than the word would normally mean, it stumbles its way through soberly, while still managing to mimic the present day society, mimicking it just enough to make the people have a thorough look at itself.

Director Kinji Fukasaku's swan song, it stocked a huge demand after its world wide release and attending to it, its DVD release was finalized on November 29, 2005. Being a thinker's delight and a source of fear motivation, it truly and surely, deserves a place in the 'forever seeables'. Involving a group of adolescents in a savage program it opens your eyes to the future we are heading to and the kind of present we are living in. Truly majestic, this work of fiction deserves a buy, for its place in every film admirer's cabinet.
