A Better Life

The story revolves around Carlos Galindo, an immigrant from Mexico. He works in Los Angeles, as a gardener.

He has a son, Luis, quiet alienated from him. The plot portrays the efforts of a father to give a better life to his son. He wants Luis to have a life that he only dreamt of. Carlos works on the lands of the bigwigs of L.A. Working for the high-class people of the city, he knows well about the evils that can hamper the growth and future of his son. Carlos is also paranoid of the presence of immigration officials that may spell trouble for him and his son. The vicious circle of gangsters poses a threat to the upbringing of Luis.  He works hard for his son and tries his best to keep him away from the shadows of gang culture. He also tries hard to get his son into a school. As a part of his dreams for Luis, he buys a truck so that he can get the best for Luis.

He wishes to expand his business and this truck may prove instrumental in his success. Seemingly smooth, the plot has a surprising turn. The story thickens as Carlos struggles to evade immigration agents and save Luis from the criminals who rule the city and are eager to lure Luis. These hardships act as a bridge in cementing the father-son relationship. In the wake of the difficulties, the two come closer and work together for a better life.
