Albatross

Albatross is a drama film which follows the friendship of two 17-year-old girls as they discover life and relationship. Beth and Emelia are poles apart. Emelia who shares the surname with great author, Arthur Conan Doyle, wants to become a famous writer like her great-great-grandfather. She meets Beth when the former is asked to work as a cleaner for the Bed & Breakfast establishment. Soon, after the meeting the girls become friends. Beth is, this, sober, well-behaved, and well-educated kind of a girl while her new friend is free spirited and doesn’t really care how things are supposed to be. Beth has never been into alcohol and casual sex. Emelia thinks that her friend needs to break the walls she has created around her. She thinks that Beth should see the world and witness it from a different perspective.

Emelia has her own set of problems, the problems related to her life and home. Apparently, her mother ended her life and now, she resides with her grandmother who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. It becomes a task for Emelia that she has to remind her grandmother that her mother is no more alive. Meanwhile, Beth and Emelia become good friends. Beth’s father is a prolific writer with years of experience in writing. Her mother is not very fond of her daughter’s new buddy because the way she leads her life.

Emelia is a beautiful girl and she knows that. Things begin to take an ugly turn, when she starts flirting with her friend’s dad. Apparently, Beth’s father is teaching her creative writing and in the process she develops feelings for him. All these happenings can turn Beth and family’s life upside down. What about Beth’s mother, the affair thing can have chaotic consequences for her as well. The film is funny and witty with an interesting plot.
