Another Harvest Moon is a touching tale that revolves around four elderly people, June, Frank, Alice and Ella, who are spending the sunset period of their lives in a hospice. Though these four come from different backgrounds, they still appear like a family.
They offer help to each other and also take part in each other’s trials and tribulations. Every morning the four of them congregate to play a game of cards. However, one morning turned out to be very different for everyone. Frank discloses that he can’t recall the face of his wife. As a result, he doesn’t want to live anymore and undergoes a severe stroke. Thereafter, he asks his child, Jeffrey, to deliver him his gun, which he used in World War II. He tells him that the gun in his hands allows him the pleasure to recall his old days and friends. However, possibly the reason is something else.
In the meantime, Frank’s disclosure results in a conflict between Alice and Ella. They make ardent efforts to change Frank’s mind, even as they secretly confront their personal demons. One day, his son Jeffrey, his grandson Jack, and Jeffry’s daughter, take Frank on a tour. During the tour, all put their best effort to persuade Frank to drop his plan. When Frank returns from the tour, he thinks about his decision and its repercussions. But, will he change his decision? The movie is a meditation upon faith, understanding, love and its many obligations, and compels us to look at life anew.
