Ironically named, ‘Answers to Nothing’ actually offers the answers to just about everything that seems to be wrong with the world that we live in. The movie picks on the lives of seemingly normal individuals, all of whom could pass as the people who live down just about every street.
The intriguing part, is that, instead of taking on a philosophical tone while delivering the ‘answers’, the film explores various facets of the lives of its protagonists, while telling a captivating story. The story, which is brilliantly interspersed with each of the individual battles that the film’s protagonists are going through, keeps us glued to our seats. Director Matthew Leutwyler takes us on this intriguing journey, where we watch the story of a child’s mysterious abduction, and see how it affects the lives of all the people, who directly or indirectly, were connected to him.
The detective working on the case is a single parent, who understands the plight of losing a child. The detective’s best friend is a hapless woman, who instead of confronting her husband for his infidelity, chooses to play along, because she knows that this might be the only way for her to achieve her biggest dream, which is to have a child of her own. The film also shines the spotlight on a gamut of other characters, including the child’s teacher, who is obsessed to the extent of mental disturbance over his abduction, and a cop, who instead of protecting others, must protect himself from the depression that seems to be taking a toll on his life. Catch the movie to find out all the interwoven stories.
