Around a Small Mountain is a drama which revolves around a girl named Kate. The film, which is also known as 36 Vues du Pic Saint-Loup, is set in France and shows Kate as a small girl initially.
She is brought up by her father, who is not very well off in terms of finances. However, the father-daughter duo is extremely talented, and they act as performers, who earn their food and other amenities by performing as parts of a circus. Soon, differences begin to creep in between the two, and they decide to take their own paths ahead. Kate, who is successful as a circus performer, all by herself, gets the tragic news of her father's sudden demise, 15 years after they separated. When she sets out to see him for the last time, she comes across a guy named Vittorio, who drops her to the place that she wants to go. Upon the request made by Kate, this guy stays there to watch her perform, along with the other members of the circus troupe.
The man is more than impressed by Kate and becomes a part of their troupe. It doesn't take long for love to find its way in the lives of two of them, and Vittorio begins to fall for Kate, who is equally smitten by him. When they begin to start a relationship, there are things that stay unanswered and that can, in the most negative of ways, affect their budding love. Why did Kate go away when she had her dad by her side? Was there something wrong between them? The answers lie in the film itself.
