Smithville is a small town in Texas, where Ely Vaughn forms a rather important part of the community. As the town’s funeral director, he acted as one of the very pillars of the society. Apart from his scary job, inhabitants from the town looked up at him for his basketball records at high school. They knew him as a star quarter back, who appeared a man too charming for his job. Ely was known as someone, who would easily mingle with the society, when not into his duty. In short, we eventually find him turn indispensible for Smithville and its residents. A sad event turns Ely’s life upside-down, and snatches every bit of happiness from his life.
He turns into an introvert, loses his charm, his desire to mingle with people, his smile that he carried along everywhere, and makes him withdraw to his own private world. The town that once, held a lot of respect for their mortician, now slowly started doubting his lifestyle and his ways that were getting weirder by the day. A group of local teenagers contribute massively towards generating rumors about supernatural events occurring at Ely’s mansion (also the funeral house). Ely’s job that had a lot to do with death along with the recent demise of his wife was enough reason behind the generation of such rumors.
The high school students- Travis, Abby, Brian and Danny decide to quench their rising curiosity and try breaking into the mansion to find the truth. On their way to break open the door, they see a grieved Ely dancing with a mysterious lady from behind the curtains. On seeing this, the four kids hid themselves temporary and waited for Ely to leave. As they break into the mansion, instead of finding clues about Ely’s dancing partner, they come across an ugly and a long-hidden that reflected on the sadistic mindset of the funeral-director, who will now his best to let them remain buried, forever.
