This particular offering, coming from the land of fish and chips, Britain, is named after a junction in the Reading suburb of London City. It is based on the experiences of a man who grew up in the area in the 1970s.
The Cemetery Junction is the story of three friends, Freddie, Bruce and Snork, who all happen to live nearby and are seemingly content with their inconsequential lives and wasteful ways. Of the three, Bruce and Snork happen to be pretty content with their daily routines of boozing and bingeing like there’s no tomorrow, then following it up with fights and chasing the girls in their area, and then following up with more fights. But Freddie is different! He wants to get himself out of their no-good routines and is in love with a girl but can’t tell her. Soon he bows out of the group and becomes an insurance salesman. While Bruce, the aggravated antihero with a false bravado, and Snork the happy-go-luck dude with a sense of humor, they are both at odds with Freddie’s departure. But things change when one day at job; Freddie comes across the love of his life, Julie, and old memories and feelings come to the fore, leaving Freddie flush faced.
The continuing contrasts between the laidback nature of Bruce and Snork, with the eagerness of Freddie, all when combined with the laidback appeal of the Junction, adds the edge to this comedy and takes it to a new level. But soon, reality dawns upon the friends and they get back together when Freddie makes up his mind to get the lady of his dreams. Will it be another disaster, or will the friends finally mature? Find out in the movie.
