Contractor's Routine

What happens when a man loses all the sense and becomes trapped by his own alter ego? It depends what his doppelganger makes him do! The story of Contractor’s Routine largely follows this premise and at the centre of it is Jacob.

He lives a simple life, and is a lonely man. He does not know the society he lives in and finds it hard to understand its functioning. Marred by society’s dubious ways of carrying things out, Jacob develops a world of fantasy, which has little place for understanding of good or evil. His ultra self is ready to take his place and ready to help him out whenever Jacob requires one. He chooses the most violent path and becomes horribly murderous. Killing and strangulation become his demeanor, and he turns to the world of evil. He is frustrated with the reality of the world and knows no other ways. The film is dark, mysterious and gruesome in a sense that it tries to bring out the repressed thoughts of a man. The chance, that a man would choose a genuine route when hit by frustration, becomes negligible with so much of dark forces around. The film’s graphic and visual style is laudable, and the story runs at a breakneck pace.

The ultimate question that the movie seems to ask is, whether it’s possible to look up at your ultra ego and seek answers when your own decisions leave you incapacitated! Does the movie answer the question out? Not everything should be told!
