Jurisdiction, law games and justifiable arguments, all these are parts of a court battle, which decides the fate of an individual, getting entangled in certain cases.

Conviction is a well planned and extremely intelligent movie that talks about a lady, who is a single mother and is fighting a court battle to free her brother, from a murder case. The film is based on the factual story of Betty Anne Waters, who takes the help of an attorney named Barry Scheck, from the Innocence Project, for exonerating her wrongfully condemned brother. As most of the lawyers disagree to fight the case of her brother, she decides to take the call herself. For this, she earns her GED, followed by a bachelor's, a master's in education, and ultimately a Juris Doctor degree from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. And, she did all this, along with bringing up two boys alone, while working as a waitress on a part-time basis. While in law school, she started examining her brother's case. Kenneth "Kenny" Waters, her brother, was wrongfully found guilty in the 1983 murder case of Katharina Brow in Ayer, Massachusetts (the murder took place in 1980).

Betty Anne, luckily, found a biological proof and then worked with the Innocence Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to upending wrongful convictions. Watch the heart-rending movie to find out if Betty Anne is lucky in her struggles.
