Daydream Nation surrounds Caroline Wexler, Thurston and Mr. Anderson. The love story starts when a teenager and her father shift to a small town.
Caroline Wexler and her father previously lived in a city. The town has its own specialty. The industries in the town never stop working, with activity going on, round-the-clock. But when they reach the town, Caroline is enrolled into a new school. This school however, is frankly not the epitome of education, with students perpetually high on drugs. Meanwhile, Thurston, who is one of Caroline’s class fellows, falls in love with her. But, Caroline has developed feelings for someone else. Her affections start tilting towards Mr. Anderson, who is her teacher. Soon, they indulge in an affair, with physical intimacy at the base. And that’s how a love triangle develops. However, things suddenly change when Caroline comes to know that Mr. Anderson is a good for nothing fellow. This is what diverts her attention towards Thurston.
But, Mr. Anderson doesn’t sit back quietly. He tries hard to ruin their evolving love, out of jealousy, after he proves to be dysfunctional in the relationship. And this makes Caroline's life hell. Will she be able to escape the atrocities of Mr. Anderson? Will she and Thurston live happily together? The twist in the story is enticing, and will surely make you want to answer these questions.
