‘Earth Made of Glass’ is a documentary which takes us back to the country of Rwanda, which was set ablaze because of the murder of an estimated 800000 people in the year 1994. What was hidden from the world about this mass-killing was that the government of France was the culprit behind this devastating incident.
The movie is set at the time of the 2008 war in Congo. The movie starts with the present Rwandan President, Paul Kagame as he brings to light the wrongdoings of the government of France, owing to which, Rwanda had to witness this massacre 15 years back. The movie moves on to show, how after three months of this revelation by the President, his most trustworthy colleague, Rose Kabuye is put behind bars in a French prison. The reason given for her imprisonment is her involvement in terrorist activities. Earth Made of Glass also shows Jean-Pierre Sagahutu, a person who survived the 1994 massacre.
His father’s murder in 1994 has had a devastating effect on his mind, making him set out to hunt for the murderer. This search, as the movie shows, finally comes to an end when he gets to meet the murderer. At the same time, the President is also out on a mission to rescue Rose. But then, the problem that both of them have to face is that they have to opt for the most suitable way to put an end to their problems. They can either let things be, the way they are, or act in the way that they feel is just.
