Father’s Day is the perfect recipe for a good laugh and it centers on two regular men, who’re living a life of dissatisfaction and despair.
Jack Lawrence is an attorney, living a respectable life that’s got all that a man can dream of - he’s happily married, rich and popular. The other protagonist is Dale Putley, who’s an aspiring writer, with a suicidal tendency, that gets reflected in his writing. The circumstances that bring together Jack and Dale are immensely hilarious, and turn their otherwise dull lives into an adventurous spree. It all begins with a mysterious woman, who turns out to be an ex-lover of both of them. She tells both of them, on separate occasions, the story of a boy, who she claims was their son, and had now disappeared. The story has them believing every word and they both set out in a search of a boy, whom they believe to be their son. When they meet each other on the escapade, they realize that they’ve both fallen prey to the same ploy, and decide to join hands.
The boy turns out to be a brash teenager who’s hell bent on following a rock band, Sugar Ray. This leads them to Sacramento, where they finally lay hands on the love-struck and notorious guy who has been wrecking havoc over their lives. But the muddle is far from over, since the biggest question yet remains to be answered - who is the boy’s father?
