The Andrea Arnold directed Fish Tank is a Jury Prize winner movie at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. This movie portrays the life of a 15 year old troubled and rude girl Mia (Katie Jarvis) who lives with her mother Joanne and a little sister Tyler, on an Essex council estate.
Mia feels very lonely as she is excluded from school. She spends her time drinking alcohol, but she has an interest in dancing, which she practices alone. Her friendship grows up with her mother’s Irish boyfriend, Connor, who encourages her to pursue her passion i.e. dancing. While showing her dance steps to Connor, which she prepares for an audition, they become intimate and have sex. Next morning, she sees her mother crying and gets to know that Connor has left.
