‘Footprints’ is a story that carefully balances itself between fantasy and reality. Though hinting at both, it manages to mystify the truth and reveals it, only as the story progresses.
It is a mystery that’s unique in nature, not only because of its plotline and settings, but also because it is a mystery that is in no hurry to reach its conclusion. It begins with the protagonist finding herself on the footprints and head-prints of a famous Chinese theatre. A little delirious about whether she is dreaming or it’s all happening in reality, she makes her way from one important landmark of Hollywood to another. On her way, she meets a few interesting characters, which include tour guides, superhero mimics, a Scientology auditor and a shop owner. Another unique development is that she gets followed by a stranger.
Due to this, she gets confused again, as she lingers between the thoughts of him being real or just her imagination again. As the day approaches its end, she reaches the verge of discovering the truth. She gets to make some life-altering decisions, in order to differentiate the real from the fake. This is a movie that is as interesting as the locales that it has been shot in. Fantastic portrayal of their respective roles by the actors adds another spark to the perfect direction given by Steven Perros.
Footprints, is the movie to tune-in to if you’d love to be transported to the long-forgotten realms of classical cinema. The movie stars Sybil Temtchine, in the lead role of a young woman suffering from amnesia, who suddenly wakes up one day on the gateways of a famous Chinese theatre, only to realize that she has no memory of who she is, or where she’s from.
While the sheer beauty and convincing portrayal of this young actress is reason enough to watch the movie, the labyrinthine plot that unfolds is no less tempting. The movie will keep you guessing right until the end, as you wonder, who this girl really is. The best part is that the secret revealed in the climax will be one that you’ll be least expecting. The highlight of the movie is the tribute paid by it to some of the greatest actors of Hollywood, who remain eternalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The movie ends up being nostalgic at certain points, with the general note remaining upbeat, and chockfull with suspense!
