Gladiator

Gladiator, a historical adventure drama presents the repercussions of the life-altering decision made by Roman emperor, Marcus Aurelius. The movie begins with the trustworthy Roman general Maximus, who was close to the ageing emperor of the Roman Empire. Before dying, Marcus selects Maximus as his successor over his eligible yet clever son, Commodus.

However, this leads to a struggle between Maximus and Commodus, which puts all of Rome on trial. The power-hungry son of the emperor attacks Maximus’ family, and before the powerful general can save his family, they are all killed. Maximus gets imprisoned illegally and during his trial period, he meets Proximo, who trains him as a gladiator. Maximus still wants to fulfill the last wish of the emperor, so that the rule could be shifted from the Caesars to the Senate. Soon, he gets an opportunity to fulfill the dreams of the emperor.

The troupe of gladiators is called to Rome for the most challenging gladiator marathon. With the help of his newly acquired status, Maximus makes his own army with his old flame – Lucilla, who is also Commodus’ sister. From here onwards, a new power struggle begins, that continues till the death of an undeserving successor of the Roman Empire. Throughout the movie, the intense battle encounters can be seen that take place between Maximus and Commodus. Will Maximus ever be able to change the destiny of the Roman Empire?
