Reviews :

The Dark Lord reigns supreme in this venture of David Yates. The sixth edition of the epical saga of Harry Potter, steals hearts as well as heartbeats. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince follows the trend that is very well visible from the fourth edition, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire – the trend of a dark ending, a death!

J.K. Rowling’s masterpiece is given a befitting treatment in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Daniel Radcliffe is a perfect rendition of Harry Potter, while Emma Watson emerges as a brilliant actor as Hermione Granger, and Rupert Grint is at his best as Ronald Weasley. But, the highlight of this movie is someone else – Richard Harris as Albus Dumbledore, the invincible Hogwarts Headmaster.

Albus Dumbledore is a character, whose mere presence in a scene is enough to make the viewers feel assured that nothing evil would befall Harry. After all, he is the only person in the world whom Tom Riddle a.k.a. Lord Voldemort fears! This movie threatens to explode this assurance as Albus Dumbledore is the next target of Voldemort. Life for Harry Potter fans would never be the same after they have taken a watch of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I am true when I say this, as this movie brings in shocks, in bulk!

The mysterious book of Potions that Harry finds in Professor Slughorn’s class, plays a major part in this movie. The cold, dark green landscapes of Hogwarts are full of mystery and intrigue, as Harry takes help from this old book, with the name Half Blood Prince inked on its pages. Hermione senses something sinister and we know she is never wrong. Emma Watson as Hermione, is undoubtedly the next queen of Hollywood, with charm and beauty equaling the one exuded by Kate Winslet in Titanic. Other than Dumbledore, she is probably the only one, whose presence makes the settings serene.

The dangerous chase of Horcruxes has left an indelible injury mark on the hand of Dumbledore and David Yates, the director has brilliantly made him look old and frail for the first time in the Harry Potter series. One character that gets highlighted in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is Draco Malfoy. I never thought that this lanky guy could have looked this sinister, with an even more sinister scheme playing in his head. You would never ever be able to forget the haunting that Dumbledore’s death scene created.

Sighs rise high as he gets hit by none other than Severus Snape - a man he trusted till the very end. No ardent fan could have controlled tears dropping down their eyes as Dumbledore’ body flew feet high in the air, as loose as a rag doll. More such grandiose effects make this movie a visual treat. The efforts of Tim Burke and Tim Alexander, the two supervisors in charge of the visual effects, are clearly visible in this movie. This movie counts amongst the few you cannot miss, even if you are not into the revolution that is known as Harry Potter.
