A self-reliant divorcee Jane (played by Meryl Streep), runs a successful bakery located in Santa Barbara, California.After being divorced for ten years, she develops an amicable relationship with her ex-husband Jake (Alec Baldwin), which gradually develops into an affair.However, she finds this ridiculous as Jake had remarried Agness, who is much younger than him and they both are trying to have a child.Jake already has three children with Jane.Both keep the affair a secret and behave normal with the children and Agness.However, Harley, the fiancé of her daughter, Lauren, notes Jake and Jane getting cozy but keeps the secret to himself.To make the situation worse, Jane feels that she is drawn towards her architect, Adam, whom she had hired to renovate her home.In fact, while working for her, Adam falls in love with Jane.This complicates the situation and finally, in a party thrown to celebrate Luke’s graduation everything is no longer a secret.
