Jumping The Broom

Jumping The Broom is a Salim Akil directed movie, which revolves around two different families. These families first meet each other during a marriage.

Paula Patton is playing the bride, Sabrina Watson, in the movie, while Laz Alonso is playing the character of the groom, Jason Taylor. Angela Bassett is the mother of the bride and Loretta Devine will be seen bringing to life the character of the groom’s mother. The getting together of the two different families, during a weekend marriage, will create humorous situations. Being from different backgrounds, there are bound to be clashes in thoughts, but they have to successfully accomplish the big event – the wedding - in any way possible. Since the mothers (both of the bride as well as the groom) are women with big attitudes, comic situations are inevitable.

This is what is the foundation of this movie and makes it worth watching. Incredible performances by Bassett and Devine, along with superb dialogues and impeccable direction are the lifeline of the film.
