‘Knuckle’, for the major part of the human population, might just be the name of another body part.However, for the members of the infamous Irish Traveler clans, this word is a symbol of pride, pain, violence, and revenge. This bizarre society thrives on bare knuckle fighting as the only way of winning victory over age-old foes, and deciding who is the most superior.

This gruesome portrayal by Ian Palmer might just make you wince in pain, as you watch the protagonists in the movie, portrayed superbly by the real life McDonagh brothers, James, Michael and Paddy. The film brings on our screens, events that spanned over a 12-year period, and showcases the gripping politics that goes on underneath the complacency of this nomadic tribe. An odd fact about the tribe is that it advocates interbreeding, which makes the interpersonal relationships much more complex. The feelings of jealousy, possessiveness, and protection that might be streamlined in a society with borders and rules are all over the place among the Travelers.

When rage sets in, they do not believe in resorting to the use of weapons, or boxing gloves, because for them, all the arsenal that they need resides in their hands, with their bare knuckles being their greatest mode of defense. The film redefines thrill and violence, by showing all that can possibly go wrong, when two human beings, with nothing but their hands between them, are paired against each other on the battlefield. Get set to hear your heart pounding, as you gasp in bewilderment, as you watch this one!
