Lost Journey

Lost Journey is a true-to-life account of a journey undertaken by millions of youngsters each year; a journey from the sheltered environs of their motherland to the treacherous terrains of an advanced foreign nation.

At the center of this plot, is a 19-year-old Iranian boy, Pedram Abasi, who moves to Toronto, Canada, in search of greener pastures. He is received by his aunt and uncle who promise him a bright future, if only he abides by the set of rules laid down by them. Everything seems to be going perfectly, as Pedram learns the foreign language, and begins to adapt to the Canadian culture, faster than anyone’s expectations. Then suddenly, like a bolt out of the blue, he befriends two notorious youngsters, Nima and Chrissy, who introduce a new side of the Canadian culture to him, which he would have been much better off not knowing about. Unable to resist the temptation of the lifestyle that they uncover, he rapidly sinks into the dark tunnel of nightclubs, promiscuous relationships and drugs addiction.

Much to the agony and disappointment of his relatives and family back home, he allows his life to spin out of control and loses all perspective of what brought him there in the first place. Even though the movie, written and directed by Ant Horasanli, is no generalization, yet it is an attempt to throw light on an often-disregarded aspect of the youth. As we see the responsible teenager getting stuck in the murk of vices, which threaten to devastate his entire life, the question that echoes in our minds is- Is the promise of wealth worth the price of a ruined life that could have been well-led?
