The heart touching work of Larry Natalia has been given the form of a movie under the direction of Dawn Natalia. They come together to enliven the thoughts, emotions, and dreams of the soldiers who serve the nation, often at the cost of their lives.
The sentimental aspect of wars and its heroes, especially the American war heroes is brought out in the form of three military men, who accidently meet at an inn and share their dreams with one another. Pledging Allegiance presents all the aspects of war through Jerry, Frank and Gene, who belong to the same profession but different generations. The movie begins with Jerry (a mariner) who misses his train, and he goes to a nearby inn to spend some time. It’s here that he meets the other war heroes, Frank and Gene, who are elder to him and have fought wars during their time. While Frank has fought in the Vietnam war, Gene is a retired African-American veteran, who has been a part of World War II. The story has been made more interesting by the way in which their desires, dreams, and fears have been put forth. The movie is not only about the sentiments of these three warriors but also about the emotions and the desires of the army men on the whole.
The movie takes the audience on a journey of American war history, as the three men begin their conversation. The movie, in spite of featuring these war stories, has very little violence in it. Witness the sequence of emotional facets of the soldiers in the form of Pledging Allegiance that evokes the feelings of patriotism.
