Red Riding Hood

This movie can be termed as an adaptation of the old fairy tale of the Little Red Riding Hood. It trails the adventurous and danger-ridden journey of a girl who is up against a deadly werewolf.

The movie presents a whole new approach to the tale. It presents the story of this girl named Valerie, who is in love with a poor orphan called Peter. There are a myriad of characters in the movie including the evil werewolf, whose identity remains a secret till the very end. Valerie’s parents promise her hand to a wealthy blacksmith’s son. Determined to be with her love, Valerie is all the more puzzled as the town people shudder in the fear of a bloodthirsty wolf, which is on a killing rampage. And, the twist is that this Wolf can be killed by silver only. Valerie is up for another shock when she realizes that she can understand the wolf’s language and can communicate with it.

Another important person of the town, Father Solomon, executes anyone who is bitten by the Wolf as the bitten person is bound to transform into a wolf too! Red Riding Hood also brings in the subplot of choosing one’s love, albeit with the dangers involved. The story offers unending surprises as Valerie makes the final choice between a safe life and an endless wait for Peter, who may well be a wolf. The big question is would she be able to accept her love in a changed avatar or simply move ahead in life!
