Risen is a spine-chilling horror film that will leave you gasping for breath with its terrifying sequences. The movie starts off on a peaceful note as we get a peek into a suburban home, where Sam (Joseph Thackery) and his wife Jenny (Gigi Ernata) spend a quite peaceful evening together.
They’ve left their infant daughter with her grandmother with the intention to sneak in some alone time, for just the two of them. Their hopes are shattered when Sam’s brother, Nick, drops by to see them. Little do they know that this is the smallest of the troubles coming their way! Their world is turned upside down when a zombie outbreak is announced in the city. Their first thoughts are those of their daughter and her safety. Their worst fears are realized when they come to know that their daughter is missing. The two options that they now have are either to forget about her and run for their safety, or to throw caution to the winds and take a plunge into the horrifying world of the undead.
They choose the latter and without giving a hoot to the repercussions, they set out in a frantic search for their little one. It is at this point that the movie becomes emotionally trenchant, as we realize that what we’re watching is not just another zombie tale, but instead, is the story of the undying love of parents for their child, which is reason enough for them to put their entire lives at stake. The brilliant plot, when put together with some of the most incredible performances, results in an entertainment treat that’s definitely not worth missing!
