Stake Land is a story that takes place in America, which is in ruins, after humans have fallen to the more powerful breed of vampires. It is a movie that shows humans as the weaker race and them trying to protect themselves against these vampires.
Weak, tired and driven out, humans that remain in scattered numbers, try to escape death by hiding in far-off pockets of the country. Here, the story takes a turn and brings into focus, a young man, who after having lost his family to the ‘beasts’, gets taken care of by ‘Mister’, who happens to be a hunter of the vampires. Now, they both set on a journey to find safer havens, and in their pursuit, they travel through the country. As and when they find a human, they recruit him/her in the traveling party.
The movie goes through some philosophical turns as well, for example when they recruit a nun, she faces this spiritual dilemma that the people who used to follow her were turned into, blood-sucking monsters. Such moments really take the movie to an all new level, and new colors are added to its theme. Dark and action packed are the words that define it to the fullest, and emotional and philosophical, are traits that cannot be separated from it. This movie is a clear winner for any action lover, plus it would also do well with any individual being, who is comfortable with such a doom falling on earth.
