Snow Flower And The Secret Fan

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is a heartwarming drama movie that traces the lives of two girls, as they battle out all odds, to keep alive their bond of friendship. Set in 19th century China, this movie also depicts the social bindings of the women of that era.

The storyline of the path-breaking film is based on Lisa See’s novel, going by the name which has also been given to the movie. However, a sub-plot has been added to differentiate it from the book. The initial struggle of Snow Flower and Lily, the two friends, replicates to the original story of novel. Both of them take the help of the secret code called nu shu, which includes writing messages between the folds of a white silk fan, to keep in touch with each other. The best buddies faces all the rigid norms of the society, but their affection for each other helps them overcome all the difficulties, until death do them apart. The subplot that’s included in the movie, brings the story of the two other best friends, along with the present day scenario of Shanghai.
