‘Survival of the Dead’ offers a unique take at a zombie apocalypse. The movie is set in the picturesque locales of the Plum Island. We see a serious old man, Sarge Crocket (Alan Van Sprang), seeking refuge from the flesh-eating army of zombies that has invaded the island.
He soon realizes that the problem at hand is not as simple as it seems, since he will have to overcome a huge roadblock before he can combat the zombies. The trouble is the ongoing feud between two of the major families on the island, the O’Flynns and the Mudloons. While Patrick O'Flynn (Kenneth Welsh) and his family wish to put down the zombies, the Mudloons are pro-zombies and believe that they should take care of their undead companions, and cater to their flesh-eating needs until the scientists work out a way to stop their existence. Meanwhile, the patriarch of the O’Flynn family, Patrick, is banished from the island, leaving his family at the mercy of the Mudloons. That is when Sarge and his crew come into the picture, and try to put down this evil family, as well as the ever-increasing zombies, which seem to own the island and threaten to kill every single one of them. The movie combines the elements of thrill, mystery and suspense, unleashing an unusual combination that will make you feel the goose bumps rising. For the first time ever, we see a group of humans turning against their fellow humans to support a posse of zombies.
Watch the movie to see what comes out of this oddball ideology, and to see which of these men manages to come out of the horrific mess alive. The spellbinding backdrop of this spectacular island leaves you torn between admiring its sheer beauty and wincing at the horrifying tale it has to tell.
