Inspired by the hit British sitcom of the same name, The Inbetweeners movie takes us on an insightful and outrageously hilarious journey into the deepest insides of life of an average teenager in Britain. Even though the concepts of teenage awkwardness and high school romances might be hackneyed, they are given a refreshingly new twist in this dramedy, as the four boys on whom the movie centers, decide to go on a vacation to Malia, Crete, to escape all that’s wrong in their lives.
The film’s protagonists, Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, fit perfectly into the definition of ‘teenage misfits’, and are everything that a boy of their age dreads to be. Each of them is going through a personal battle of his own - Jay’s grandfather passing away, Simon’s girlfriend dumping him, and Will being depressed after the remarriage of his divorced father to his much younger mistress. That leaves Neil as the only one sane enough to figure out a way to give them all a break from the mess they are stuck in, and so, he plans the vacation.
They set off to have the time of their lives, only to realize that misfits are misfits, no matter where they go. While clubbing at an empty club in Malia, hoping to find some of the action they had been hoping for, their paths cross with four similar-aged girls, who quickly make advances towards them. Being romantically challenged, the boys fare miserably at their dates, and end making a fool of themselves. But will life give them a second chance? Find out!
