The Joneses is the story of a quintessential American family, which has everything that one can possibly dream of. Steve (David Duchovny) and Kate Jones (Demi Moore) are happily married, have the perfect family, and to top it all, have now moved into an affluent neighborhood.
They instantly fit into the upscale community, and turn heads wherever they go. Their sons, Jenn (Amber Heard) and Mick (Ben Hollingsworth) are deeply bonded to the family, and are blessed with good looks and smart brains. Their lush suburban home is packed with the latest gadgets and gizmos, and it seems that there is nothing more that they can ask for. They soon befriend their next door neighbors, Larry (Gary Cole) and Summer (Glenne Headly), with whom they strike a deep bond. However, as tragedy strikes the family, everything comes crumbling down, and they are forced to discover who they are beneath the perfect exterior that they have been enjoying. As the Joneses go from being the family everyone wished to be like, to the family that everyone pities, they have to stick together and find their way out of this adversity. The movie is a wake-up call for anyone who thinks that money can buy happiness, as it shows that when life turns its back against you, there is nothing you can do except fight back with resilience and vow to pick up the broken pieces and start all over again.
Demi Moore and David Duchonvy live up to the expectations that one has from them, delivering one of the best performances of their career. Derrick Borte does a fabulous job at creating these believable characters, and making you cry with them and laugh with them, and most importantly learn with them. Watch the movie to gain an experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll!
