The Vow

The Vow is a deeply moving romantic tale that redefines the meaning of the famous wedding vow - till death does us apart. The movie is based on the real-life events of a couple named Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. It centers on the struggle that its central male character, Leo (Channing Tatum) undergoes, when his wife, Paige (Rachel McAdams) suffers from post-traumatic retrograde amnesia after meeting a fatal motor accident.

Paige loses all memory of the events that took place before the accident. This means that even though she can remember who she is, and can remember her family and ex-fiancé, she has forgotten the life-changing occurrences that took place over the past years, including her estrangement from her parents, her breakup with her fiancé, and her marriage to Leo. As she begs to be taken back home to her parents, Leo is heartbroken, and realizes that he must make the woman he loves so dearly fall in love with him all over again. Then on, the movie takes a heart-touching turn, as we watch its endearing male lead making desperate attempts to win Paige’s heart, while she remains adamant and brash, rubbishing his claims of love as a ploy.
