Director Brandon Assanti brings before his audience a soul stirring documentary movie- Their Eyes Were Dry.
The director has attempted to portray an important historical event, which shook the whole world. The movie depicts the ‘The Ma'alot Massacre’ that took place on May 15, 1974. Assanti puts under limelight the dark experience of the school teachers and especially the children, who became prey of the Palestinian terrorist group. The story reveals how three Palestinian terrorists, disguised as Israeli soldiers, cleverly infiltrated the Lebanese border and showed their evil side by targeting the young children of an elementary school. The sun had already set and the kids were spending the night at the school with their teachers. The moment these rebellious people stepped in the school, the teachers showed their back to the children and ran away, leaving them in the middle of terror. The terrorists kept the innocent kids at gun points in order to secure the freedom of terrorists imprisoned by the Israel government.
The helpless children were left on their own to fight out the odds of the situation. Their Eyes Were Dry is certainly a heart touching movie, which narrates the tale of the kids who had no other option than to surrender in front of the criminals of the society. The movie besides illustrating the roots of terrorism to its audience also pays tribute to the heroic kids, who can undoubtedly be called as martyrs.
