Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is a film based on the novel by John le Carré and is set in 1970s London. The story revolves around the hunt for a Soviet spy working undercover in the British secret service. Agent Jim Prideaux is sent to Hungary in order to get secret info. But, soon Control, the head of British Intelligence, a.k.a Circus comes to know that Jim has been arrested by Soviet Intelligence.
Post-arrest, Control and his loyal man, George Smiley, are asked to retire from the services. Percy Alleline is appointed as the new boss, and Bill Haydon joins as deputy with Roy Bland and Toby Esterhase as his men. The new guys in the Circus have come up with Soviet intelligence material called Witchcraft. The civil servant, Oliver Lacon, brings Smiley back, in order to start an investigation. Apparently, agent Ricki Tarr believes that there is a mole in the British Intelligence and Oliver wants Smiley to find out who that is.
Control being ill, dies and Smiley is alone, but he wants to find out who is eating the agency from the inside. Will he be able to find out any info that can lead him to the mole? Meanwhile, Smiley also meets Jim, who reveals the true intent of his Hungarian visit. He shares that Control has given codenames to the suspects, Tinker (Alleline), Soldier (Bland), Tailor (Haydon) and Poorman (Esterhase). Will this information help Smiley, or will he be defeated by the moles? Find out!
