Everything was going well for the happily married couple Patrick and Louise, before they were struck by the sudden the death of their only child, their daughter. Their life turns upside down, and they find the loss too big to deal with.
In order to recover from this loss, they move to a small village in Ireland, Wake Wood. Shortly after settling down in the village, they learn about a ritual that the villagers have been practicing from long. This long-standing tradition enables the citizens of the village to meet their closed ones. The dead can be brought back to life for three days, after a year of their death. Getting a whiff of this ritual, the couple meets the leader of the village and seeks help to bring back their daughter.
The leader and the villagers agree, reminding Patrick and Louise that their daughter will be brought back for three days only, post which she will have to leave for her own world. The couple agrees, and after performing several rituals and acts, their daughter arrives. Everyone is enthralled and excited, and even the young girl is happy to meet her parents. But, things turn ominous when the parents fall prey to their child’s love and decide to keep her with them; breaking the condition the whole tradition was based upon. What follows is a complete mayhem, and Patrick and Louise face the loathing of nature for a rule they shouldn’t have broken.
