We Need To Talk About Kevin is an expertly written domestic saga of Kevin and his mother Eva Khatchadourian, whose son is in prison due to killing people like animals. Apart from being one of the biggest sociopath, he has no moral responsibilities towards his family and society. Initially, Kevin spoils the harmony of her family and soon he turns into an anti social element, who can go to any extent for personal satisfaction. The movie begins with Kevin’s imprisonment and he has been in jail for annihilation at his High School.
In addition to this, he is also responsible for killing his father and younger sister. His mother was once a successful travel agent but now she lives in a shabby house. Currently, she is working in a mall’s travel agency near the jail, where her son has been kept. All the past actions have been told through Eva’s memories. Kevin’s childhood goes in detachment and difficulty due to her mother’s frustration and irrational attitude. During his childhood, Eva throws her against the wall due to excessive irritation; this not only hurts the kid emotionally but also breaks his arm.
Later on, the woman tries to have a word with her husband, Frank about Kevin, but it gets too late as he also gives some silly excuses of his erratic behavior. At first, Kevin hurts Celia (his younger sister) and her dog with bow and arrow and Frank considers all the incidents as accidents. This increases the terror of Eva and Kevin’s confidence.
